The BJP leader Yashwant Sinha has written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking him to appear before the JPC – Joint Parliamentary Committee to “clear” his name following allegations levelled against him by Mr. Raja.
The BJP member in his letter said:
“You have not made a similar offer to the JPC despite the fact that many members of the JPC have publicly demanded that you appear before it. I think it is in your own interest to appear before the JPC and clear your name. You may also suggest the Finance Minister to make a similar offer.”
– Yashwant Sinha, BJP Leader & Member, JPC
Sinha has also termed the functioning of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on 2G as “scandalous”. Responding to it, JPC chairman PC Chacko described Yashwant Sinha’s letter to Prime Minister a political stunt and against the norms.
On Monday, Bharti Cellular Limited CMD Sunil Bharti Mittal approached the Supreme Court challenging the March 19 order of the special 2G court. The Special Court has summoned him as an accused in a corruption case related to allocation of additional spectrum in 2002. Today, the Supreme Court agreed to give an early hearing and posted the matter to April 8.
